Getting to Know Me

Originally from Schaumburg IL, was always a Cubs fan until moving to NW Indiana and finally giving up on them to become a Sox fan (Not much loyalty huh!)  Lived happily on the east coast in NY and Connecticut to learn my craft of interventional pain before moving to NW Indiana in 1996 to start Midwest Interventional Spine Specialists.

I enjoy learning about and dissecting the intricacies of pain pathology and the personal psyches of my patients to understand why some respond to certain treatments and others don’t. I am also fascinated by the greed that motivates certain doctors to commit fraud and saddened by how the pendulum has swung so far that a patient with legitimate pain cannot get pain meds.

I am an avid tennis parent and coach to my 13-year old son. I provide scholarships to high school students from underserved areas interested in science. I enjoy motivating and coaching young people and adults who want more out of their lives. And I enjoy helping to inspire and shape the next generation of doctors through shadowing, teaching, and mentoring.

What moves me? Classic rock, classic cars, the grace and beauty of a well-executed one-handed backhand like that of Roger Federer, Gasquet, or Wawrinka, travelling to new places, and of course my wife Padma and my 3 amazing boys.
